All of our items are printed and dyed locally in California, reducing transportation emissions and ensuring that practices are held to the highest standard of EPA regulations. A vast majority of our fabrics use US Grown cotton, and all of our items are printed, dyed, and finished locally, reducing transportation pollution and cutting down on CO2 emissions. We are a cut-to-order business, meaning we never end up with overstock or excessive goods, leading to less waste for the planet to deal with. We also use deadstock fabrics whenever possible in an effort to further eliminate waste; these might include surplus fabrics from factory storage, mis-dyed fabrics, or leftover fabrics from previous production runs.

Jon Pyzel grew up in Santa Barbara, California, started surfing in junior high and quickly found himself deep into it. After traveling for surf, Jon realized he wanted better waves, warmer water, making a permanent move to Oahus North Shore in 1992. A defining moment came a few years later, in 1998. Alex Florence approached Jon about making a board for her oldest son John John, who was 5 at the time. From there forward, Jon and John John worked together to redefine what was possible for Grom surfng. Fast forward almost 20 years and John John Florence is the 2016 World Champ, widely considered the best surfer alive, all while riding Pyzel surfboards. When we think about our company today, we consider JJF as one of the cornerstones to our success, not just for his amazing surfng ability, but also for his loyalty, his humble attitude, his gratitude, and his positive outlook on life. We didin't start this all to become a giant company, putting out as many "units" as we could, we started it because we love surfing and everything that goes with that - travel to new lands, great friendships, adventure. Our first products shipped in Jan 2005. In 2009 we entered into an exclusive distribution deal with Umpqua Feather Merchants. . . The arrangement worked ok for both companies, but in the summer of 2012 we made the decision to go our separate ways. By 2012 it was very apparent that our tools were being copied by every accessory company in Fishing and that they would continue to be as long as other people were doing the manufacturing. In 2015 we pivoted again and moved our operations away from the warehouse in Salt Lake City up to a rural property in the mountains and a barn that we turned into a manufacturing center. Currently . . . we are again hammering with R&D and working towards some exciting new products while also refining our production techniques to increase our volume. Future looks good, and thanks to all of you who have made it possible.
