Each part in an Adipose boat, including the hull, is manufactured right here in our Helena, Montana factory. We use a combination of hand-laid and vacuum-bagged methods to construct our boats. Using only high-grade biaxial fiberglass cloth, our boats are stronger and stiffer than the competition, while remaining lightweight. Every product we use, from the seats, to the paint, to the last nuts and bolts, are of the highest marine-grade quality.
All Aerostich products are hand crafted, and most are individually made one-at-a-time by skilled experts using time-honored sewing techniques. There are no assembly lines. Gear is created from start-to-finish in Duluth Minnesota, inside an old (1905) three floor brick industrial building where we also provide expert fittings, alterations and services. In this, I see beauty. I'm following a long tradition of the craft of bike making, borrowing traditional methods of design and construction, and adding to it my own personal take on what it means to make a great bike. Bicycles, to me, represent all that is good and fun and creative in humans. Bikes are healthy and meditative and useful, and they bring out the best of people's personalities. They help build community and promote environmental awareness, and they can help people explore the world around them in a way that is interactive and participatory. Bicycles make people smile.

Joe Matuska received his first kayak paddle and boat in 1973 as a graduation gift. After swimming several times during his first outing with them, he came home with a broken paddle and a broken boat. Figuring that someone with a degree in Medical Microbiology should be able to fix a broken paddle and boat, he went to work on them. The next thing he knew, he had a new hobby which lead to a lengthy career in the paddle sport industry. In 1991, Joe started Aqua-Bound in Surrey, British, Columbia. The company manufactured paddles for whitewater, touring, and recreational kayaking as well as canoeing, and quickly became the number one producer of plastic-bladed kayak paddles. Aqua-Bound was also the first to introduce gas-assist molded paddle blades. Joe spent a large amount of his time working the phones and growing his business by providing excellent customer service. In late 2008, Branches LLC purchased Aqua-Bound Technologies from Joe and his partners and moved the company to Osceola, WI USA. The paddles are now built right in our factory. Established in 1946 as a one man machine shop in Duarte, CA., Barrel Service Company today is a contract manufacturer with 40 employees located in North San Diego County, CA. in a 22,000 square foot building on 5 acres. Many of our family and friends here at Barrel Service are avid fly-fishermen. As a result, in 2009, we came to realize that our shop capabilities and resources could be used to create very capable and yet affordable fly fishing reels. Therefore, we’ve used our 60+ years of contract machining experience to build a product that is of very high quality without an outrageous price tag. The low price of our reel does not indicate that we cut any corners in its construction. There are no castings or weak plastic parts anywhere in the assembly. It is cut completely from solid aluminum just like the most premium reels on the market.

A brand of American Outdoor Products, Backpacker's Pantry is one of the world's foremost producers of freeze-dried meals. Our facility is in the amazing town of Boulder Colorado. We have been here for over 25 years and still love it as much as the day we moved here from Northern California. We have built our own facility on land we own. We have made it as tight as we can, meaning R20 walls and a R40 ceiling to keep the building warm in the winter and cooler in the summer. We have installed in floor radiant heat because it uses so much less energy to heat our facility. We have also installed air conditioning systems that use outside air if it is cooler than the air temperature we would like for our indoor environment. We hope to add a large solar array when we can afford to. Currently we use 100% wind power to power the facility. We also recycle and compost at our facility and hope to make our packaging recyclable and/or compostable when it is available in the market. We do have a recycling program for our pouches through Terracycle.

Bing Copeland began surfing in 1949, at age 13. He opened his first surf shop in the fall of 1959 with his friend Rick Stoner and became one of the major surfboard manufactures of the sixties and early seventys. A year after they opened, Rick decided to sell Bing his portion of the business thus came Bing Surfboards. The business grew at an exponential rate . . . and at one point, the factory produced up to 40 surfboards a day. In 1974, G&S took on the license of Bing Surfboards then Mike Eaton continued the Bing legacy through the 80s and 90s. Until one day in Baja in 2000, where Bing and his family spend their winters, Bing was surfing one of his favorite spots and a car pulled up with a group of young guys. One of the guys approached Bing and claimed to owe him some royalty money for some Bing & Rick surfboards that he had made for Rick Surfboards. This young man then offered to make Bings boards if he was ever interested. Bing casually mentioned this to his good friend Mike Eaton, who had been building the boards up until then, and Mike was happy to pass along the legacy to the new generation of surfboard shapers. This young man was Matt Calvani. To this day, Bing and his family live in the mountains of Idaho and spend their winters surfing in the warm waters of southern Baja, not forgetting to stop in on Matt and his surfboard manufacturing team located in Encinitas, CA.
Bison Designs was established by Brian Kelleghan in 1987 to produce belts manufactured from climbing webbing. We originated the process by which patterns could be woven into webbing for more unique styles, and continue using this process today, manufacturing all of our belts in Longmont, Colorado USA. Over the years, our product line has continued to expand, to include a large variety of pet accessories, paracord survival accessories, unique & custom aluminum accessories (including carabiners, bottle openers, and more), as well as a number of chalk related products. We now do business under the names of Bison Designs LLC, Bison Pets LLC, and Bison Belts LLC, and our products can be found in thousands of Outdoor and Pet specialty stores throughout the United States. Our sewn items are manufactured in Longmont, Colorado, of domestic and imported materials. Our aluminum, paracord, and chalk products are made overseas using our specifications.

My name is James Bleakley, and I've been an avid cyclist since an early age. I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1980. Cycling represented the freedom to explore my surroundings. I started Black Sheep Bikes in 1999, as a way to reconnect to my passion for building bikes. It was a chance to apply my skills in precision welding and fabrication to bicycles. In 2008, I won the Best Titanium Bicycle award at the North American Handbuilt Bicycle Show (NAHBS). The next few years brought more recognition at NAHBS, and in 2011 a move from my shop at home to a 1600 SF shop near Old Town in Fort Collins, where I currently build. Every bike is still custom, and built for an Individual, not in standard, or stock sizing. I continue to grow and learn, and teach my trade to people interested in learning to build bicycles.

Just the handle alone has up to thirty-seven glue lines (depending on the model) and requires as many man-hours to build as do most complete traditional bows being made today. Boatgirl embodies the ideas of two sisters, Leslie and Paige Temple, who spent much of their childhood on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Having grown up in Tarboro–a small, rural town in eastern NC–both were exposed to traditional norms regarding women. However, their parents ingrained in them at an early age that gender-specific roles were, for the most part, meaningless. Their mother taught them to play basketball, to be competitive, and to challenge traditional beliefs about women. Their father showed them how to change the oil in their cars, use a casting rod, clean fish, and scull a boat. More recently, on a family vacation, Leslie and Paige noticed how the bags they took on their adventures often tipped over, were difficult to manage around water, or just didn't look good. Fishing and Wood working are a hobby of ours. A beautiful day on the river brought about a slip and fall breaking my net. Once back at the shop we realized we could build our own net to replace it. We used the old net as a template and reused the bag. That net led to us making one as a Christmas gift. We shared a picture online soon we had people asking for us to make something special for them. One order led to another and another until we formed Brady's Handmade Nets. Now we create high quality handcrafted landing nets everyday here in South Carolina!
