Why did you start your business and do so here in the United States?

From Boatgirl directly! Our design philosophy originated from a desire to provide the rugged construction needed for harsh water conditions, yet our products are versatile enough to accompany any woman on any adventure, wherever that may be. Boatgirl is a woman-owned and run company that is debuting a bag line that blends durable water resistant materials, functionality, and superior design. We are committed to building Boatgirl bags in the USA, by manufacturers that share our values. Why? Because it is important to us that the people designing Boatgirl bags understand quality craftsmanship. In addition, we want those making our bags to earn a living wage. It matters to us that making our bags in our state allows us to contribute to the economy of our very own communities and our country.

Why North Carolina?

Boatgirl is headquartered in North Carolina so that they can be close to both the coast and the mountains. And although the business isn’t very old and is running on the tireless dedication of two sisters, Boatgirl is proud to be contributing to the economy of their home state of North Carolina. Yet, they are faced with labor costs that make it difficult to compete with products made overseas.

What makes Go Boat Girl Unique?

From Boatgirl directly! Boatgirl is one of the few women-owned companies producing outdoor gear for women. Over the years, many companies have used the “pink it and shrink it” approach to designing products for women, meaning that they take a product designed for men, make it smaller, and produce it in ‘girly’ colors. Boatgirl’s mission is to create bags with the look and functionality that women really want and need. We blend superior materials with quality craftsmanship, build our products in North Carolina to produce a line of bags with exceptional performance characteristics that do not sacrifice style. We believe that these qualities separate Boatgirl bags from others on the market and we will always stand by our products!
